Woy Woy Public School has selected Mr Sam Collins for the school chaplaincy position.

Mr Collins is the coordinator of the Scripture team and the pastor of the Good Hope Church which operates in the school hall on Sundays.

He is a qualified Department of Education and Communities teacher and has been teaching High School history and geography.

He is also a first grade cricket coach.

"He has a young family and a dedicated desire to help children learn and grow emotionally to be able to cope with their world now and in the future," said principal Ms Ona Buckley.

"Sam's role as School Chaplain is as a mentor and support to students.

"He will be involved in our student welfare programs, sport, excursions, organised playground activities, in-classroom support, whole school activities and running the Seasons for Growth program for which he is being trained.

"Sam will be a valuable asset to our school and our students will benefit from his input.

"Sam will be with us this term and Term 4 for 20 hours a week and in 2013 and 2014 for 10 hours a week," she said.
