Footpath put on works shortlist

A new footpath in Trafalgar Ave, Umina, is a "high priority for funding", Gosford Council has told residents who petitioned for its construction.

This project will be shortlisted for consideration of funding within the 2012-2013 Minor Capital Works Program.

In the meantime, routine maintenance of Trafalgar Ave will continue as part of the Area Maintenance Scheme for Umina.

Council received the petition with 110 signatures on June 5.

Petitioners stated that there was a growing number of people using that side of the street to walk to Aldi, a podiatrist, the beach and to the shops in West St.

The petitioners said they believed a new path was definitely needed.

According to the petition, pedestrians had fallen over on the rough, uneven surface, or cut their bare feet on the sharp stones, on a number of occasions.
