Year 4 students stay the night at Taronga Zoo
Students from Year 4 at Ettalong Public School have participated in a "camp" where they stayed the night at Taronga Zoo.
Here is a report by two of the students:
"Firstly, we took a coach to the Australian Museum.
"When we got there, a worker took us through the rules of the museum.
"The first three exhibits we went to were full of animals.
"After that we went to see dinosaur sculptures and bones.
"We then walked to Hyde Park Barracks and had a snack before the workers showed us around the prison.
"We got to see where the convicts slept and some of the materials and clothing they used and wore every day.
"After that we took a coach to Taronga Zoo where we got assigned to our tents or a cabin.
"For dinner, there were sausages, pasta, nachos and vegetables.
"After dinner, we split up into groups for the night tour where we saw rare mammals, tigers and birds.
"After the night tour, we had ice-cream and watched a short film in Taronga Zoo's movie theatre.
"After the film finished, a worker brought around a lizard and a giant python.
"After that, we got ready for bed.
"In the morning, we got dressed for breakfast and cleaned our tents.
"After that, Year 4S went to a goat enclosure where we got to feed, pat and hang out with goats.
"Mrs Sayer and Miss Crawford were lucky enough to have the baby goat sit on their laps.
"After we went to the goat enclosure, we explored the zoo.
"One group went to a desert enclosure and the other group went to a rainforest enclosure.
"We also saw the seal show and then had lunch while watching the bird show where Mr Boutland got picked to hold the cockatoos.
"After that, the groups split up again and continued to wander around the zoo for around half an hour, then we packed our suitcases and luggage ready to go.
"Overall year 4 had an amazing time at camp."
