Practice evacuation to be held tomorrow
Umina Beach Public School will have an emergency evacuation practice tomorrow, Tuesday, November 12.
"Emergency evacuations are conducted regularly and are a vital part towards ensuring the well- being and safety of our students, staff and visitors," said principal Ms Karen Wardlaw.
"We will alert our community prior to the evacuation, to minimise inconvenience to parents and carers who may be planning on visiting the school around midday.
"Our teachers are preparing students for this important event, teaching explicit safety expectations and routines so that our students feel prepared, calm and confident.
"We aim to promote a culture of safety within our school community, making sure all our students have heard the emergency bells and have been exposed to the volume of the bell, to reduce possible anxiety or concern.
"Our teachers address student questions and provide relevant information so that our students are well prepared for any possible emergency."
The practice evacuation will be held between 12.15pm and 12.45pm.
Anyone on site at this time will be required to evacuate the site, along with staff and students.
