Guitar concert to raise money for hall maintenance
A concert featuring guitar music from Spain and Latin America with Guy Strazz and Mark Johns will be held by the Pearl Beach Progress Association at 7:30pm on Friday, November 22, at the Pearl Beach Memorial Hall.
It will include a special appearance by Pearl Beach Community Scholarship winner guitarist Jerome Drobot.
Proceeds from the concert will go toward the maintenance of the Memorial Hall and environmental initiatives.
"Master guitarists Guy Strazz and Mark Johns perform an electro acoustic journey of Afro-Brazilian Jazz through their awarded original compositions and music by composers such as Corea, Jobim, Sting, and Miles Davis," said association publicity officer Ms Lynne Lillico.
"Guy Strazz has previously performed at Pearl Beach and is a renowned guitarist and awarded composer.
"Mark Johns is one of the world's most celebrated session guitarist and performer and he has recorded and toured extensively."
She said that 16-year-old Jerome Drobot won the 2024 Pearl Beach Community Music Scholarship and now learns from Guy Strazz.
Tickets which include a Paella Dinner cost $57, with children under 15 $25.
