Council approves six grants for Peninsula activities
Central Coast Council has approved six community grants totalling more than $85,000 for the Peninsula, including five for community events at its meeting on Tuesday, October 29.
It declined seven other grant applications.
It approved a Community Development Grant of $6500 for the Woy Woy Football Club's Barbecue Blitz.
"Community Events and Place Activation" grants totalling almost $79,000 were awarded to five groups for events over the coming year.
Umina Community Group was awarded $12,870.40 for a showcase skateboarding event at Umina Skate Park.
The Words on the Waves Writers Festival was awarded $20,000.
The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce was awarded $18,900 for the 2024 Brisbane Water Oyster Festival.
The Fun Haus Factory was awarded $15,000 for the 2025 Coastal Twist Festival.
The Terrigal Trotters Club was awarded $11,936 for the 2025 Bay to Bay Running Festival.
Three community development grant applications were "declined".
The Australian Skateboarding Federation Ltd was told it was ineligible to apply for its "King of Concrete Umina and ASF judges course".
Woy Woy Peninsula Little Athletics Centre was told its Runway Replacement project was ineligible.
Central Coast Outrigger Canoe Club was told its New Ultra-Light Malolo OC6 Canoe project was ineligible.
Umina Surf Life Saving Club was told its community support grant application to upgrade water storage and water saving processes had insufficient information to make an accurate assessment.
Three "community events and place activation" grant applications were declined.
Peninsula Village Ltd was told its application for its Peninsula Villages Spring Carnivale had "limited broader community benefit".
Slippery Sirkus Inc was told its Umina community mosaics project was ineligible.
An application for Stars Ettalong Beach Vintage Lifestyle Festival was withdrawn by applicants CL Perrin and TA Spencer.
