Aged care building program still ahead of schedule
The building program at a Woy Woy aged care home is still running slightly ahead of schedule.
"We still expect practical completion to now occur in December sometime, as opposed to late January," Blue Wave Living chief executive Mr Matt Downie.
"However, we may not be able to utilise all of the new spaces until late January by the time we move through the certification process.
"We are hopeful that as a minimum, we will be able to make use of the new Club House space and barbecue area off this space leading into the Christmas period."
Mr Downie said the Club House space would include a large open area with tables and seating, a fireplace lounge area, a dedicated cinema space, and would open on both sides to the home's internal courtyards
It would also include a side seating nook space, and would have a bar and servery that would be operational in the New Year.
"There will be some fun elements in the area, including a pool table and air hockey table, both of which will be electrically height adjustable.
"On the east side will be our new dedicated barbecue area, with covered patio space with tables and chairs.
"These areas will be a fantastic area for residents, families and visitors to enjoy.
"Stage Two works currently underway will also see the completion of another complete household, Coastal House.
"Existing residents currently in the older rooms in Driftwood will be able to move across into new rooms from late January onwards, subject to final certification of the spaces."
Following that, Stage 2.5 works would start, rebuilding the remaining old rooms in Driftwood, creating a new link between the buildings, adding some new spaces and rebuilding the Palm Sails courtyard.
Mr Downie said he hoped these would start in February or March, with completion late next year.
