What is the need for coastal management?
Six councils, 20 state government departments and an unknown number of consultants are given the task of addressing the problems no one has solved to date.
The problem is: How to address the effects of disastrous planning and development and the increasing impact of climate change on coastlines and river systems.
Statements made in the Hawkesbury Nepean Rivers System Coastal Management Program literature indicate to me that education of all those involved is essential before discussions begin.
For example, in Factsheet 3, it states: "Our catchment's economic wellbeing relies on continued normal high levels of productivity."
It is the "normal high levels of productivity" that have led to the need for the Coastal Management Program.
Does this case need to be argued over again?
Are my old submissions new again?
