Former bridge club president dies
Former Brisbane Water Bridge Club president and life member Mr Noel Crockett has died.
He was also known, with his wife Shirley, as organiser of the annual Christmas lights display in aid of Vision Australia at their home in Booker Bay.
"Noel was a stalwart of the club for nearly 30 years, contributing immensely to its activities and progress during which he has touched everyone at the club as well as at countless other clubs and congresses with his kindness, advice and humour," said president Mr Jim Routledge.
"Noel served the club on many occasions as president, several times, and committee member taking on a variety of roles as needed.
"He made major contributions to special activities such as the Christmas party and presentations and our club super congress.
"Over the years he was involved in teaching, supervising and giving talks to new and old members on playing of the game.
"He was also a director taking on various sessions as needed.
"Noel was granted life membership at the 2015 annual general meeting."
His funeral was held last week.
