Rotary club founder Peter Mote dies
The Rotary Club of Brisbane Water's founding president Mr Peter Mote has died.
"Peter was known for his sweet-natured demeanour, his gentle English humour, his keen business head and his dedication to Rotary," said co-president Ms Marion Cornish.
"He really lived up to the Rotary creed of Service Above Self, always on the frontline of any project his club was doing.
"Peter and his wife Jayne formed Rotary Brisbane Water five years ago after they saw a need for another club on the Peninsula.
"Peter had been president of Woy Woy Rotary four times, assistant governor of the Sydney Rotary District three times and had two Paul Harris Fellow awards from Rotary International.
"In his working life, Peter was successful in the printing trade, starting as a compositor at North View Press near his home in Warwickshire England and rising to top global positions with Readers Digest, in England and Australia.
"Along the way, Peter gained a Bachelor of Science from London University and an MBA from Western Sydney University.
"Peter was born on January 3 1944 in the spa town of Leamington in Warwickshire.
"He is survived by his wife Jayne, two children and six grandchildren.
"He will be missed deeply by all who knew him," Ms Cornish said.
