Three food pantries benefit from fashion parade
Three food pantries on the Peninsula will benefit from $2000 in funds raised in a fashion parade organised by the Older Women's Network Deepwater group on Saturday, September 28.
Mary Mac's Place, the Woy Woy Community Food Pantry run out of the hall at the back of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Blackwall Road and Community SOS next door to Meals on Wheels at the Peninsula Community Centre will each benefit, said secretary Ms Jennifer Brown.
"We will also be supporting Allawah House, a 14-room refuge for older women who are escaping domestic or family violence."
The Spring-Summer Fashion Parade was held in conjunction with Sarongs Ladies Fashions in the auditorium of the Ettalong Over-50s' Leisure and Learning Centre.
"A record crowd of 110 was in attendance," said Ms Brown.
"The fashion parade got underway with a glass of bubbly, or a non-alcoholic option, and our guests were welcomed by branch co-ordinator Ms Diana Downie.
"The Madeline Stephenson Tap Dance Troupe performed two numbers to open the parade."
The clothes, including evening wear, were modelled by Ms Fay Maitland, Ms Mary Clark, Ms Shirley Berdon, Ms Bobby Martin and Ms Leonie Franke.
After the parade, an afternoon tea was held in the dining room.
A lucky door prize was drawn and the raffle was held for seven beautiful prizes plus five $20 vouchers donated by Sarongs Ladies Fashions.
