Reminder of the world's oldest living culture

Aboriginal people were the foundation of Australia's story and caretakers of the world's oldest continuous living culture, Mingaletta elder Aunty Di O'Brien told those attending Australia Day celebrations at Pearl Beach in her Acknowledgement of Country.

"She stayed for several hours answering questions and generally enjoying the festive, inclusive atmosphere," said Pearl Beach Aboriginal History group publicity officer Ms Peggy Todd.

Pearl Beach Progress Association raised $1650 through the day for Mingaletta's early intervention education program.

Ms Nicole Manners is pictured presenting Aunty Di with the cheque.
