Grant for cricket pitch roller

Southern Spirit Cricket Club is set to receive a grant of $25,000 for a new turf cricket pitch roller from the NSW Local Small Commitments Allocation Program.

Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch said: "Sport holds a special place in my heart and I know the joy that getting out and playing a team sport brings to our community."

"The NSW Government is committed to supporting our community sport clubs thrive and I am thrilled that this cricket roller will provide the club with a world-class field to play the game they love.

"The roller will give the Southern Spirit Cricket Club, which comprises men's, women's, juniors' and veterans' cricket teams, the ability to properly prepare a high-quality turf wicket at Umina Oval throughout summer.

"I have always advocated for our community sporting clubs and the value that they bring to our community.

"I am proud to see the NSW Government continuing this ongoing support with the purchase of a new turf cricket pitch roller."

Southern Spirit Cricket Club director Mr Sean Dickson said: "Grants like these are essential for local sporting clubs to help provide top quality recreational services and experiences to its members and the greater community.

"The funds granted to us have been utilised in the purchase of assets which will go a long way in the future proofing of our club for current and future members."
