New silvercraft tutor starts at arts and crafts centre
Ettalong Beach Arts and Crafts Centre has a new silvercraft tutor, allowing silvercraft classes to be reinstated.
Ettalong resident Ms Jessica Evans is the new tutor, bringing 25 years' experience as a practising artist specialising in silver jewellery design.
She also has experience in sculpture, ceramics, textiles, photography, drawing and painting.
Ms Evans is an experienced high school teacher in visual arts and technology, having worked at high schools on the Central Coast and for the Sydney Diocese.
Her classes will enable students to learn the "lost wax casting" technique, with designs initially carved in wax.
The lost wax casting process results in a replica of the original design in solid sterling silver.
Students will be guided through the polishing process, ending with a shiny, highly-polished finish.
The class is open to all levels of experience.
Further information is available on the centre's website at www.ebacc.com.au or via email at ebacc.email@gmail.com
