Men's Shed considers new activities

Umina Beach Men's Shed is asking its members whether there is interest in having day-out trips and other activities at the Shed.

Having settled into their new Shed, newsletter editor Mr Vic Brown said: "We are just interested to find out if our members have an interest in a day-out trip."

He said: "The trips in the past were by train, ferry and walking simply to keep the costs down and the destinations were chosen by the members.

"Going back a few years, trips were organized to visit Cockatoo Island and look at all the old original equipment and facilities and review the history of the Island.

"Sydney Cricket ground was another: right through the stands, members' lounges and team rooms."

Mr Brown said members were also being asked if they were interested in new activities or skills be offered at the Shed.

"Members who have visited other Men's Sheds often comment on the range of different activities undertaken at the various Sheds," he said.

The Shed was asking: Did members have a yearning for a new activity or skill?

Mr Brown said one member had previously expressed an interest in bike repairs, which led the Shed to provide a bike stand, bench area and storage for bikes.
