Umina women play men for Halcyon Cup
The annual Halcyon Cup Challenge was played between the Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club and the Umina Beach Women's Bowling Club on King's Birthday Monday, June 9.
The trophy was donated by women's past president Gale Hill and her men's club husband Robin Hill four years ago.
"The men's club won the trophy in 2022, 2023 and 2024, but the women were determined to win it this year and fielded a strong side," said men's club secretary Mr Peter Springett.
"The game was played in cold, windy conditions and the greens were very quick - a tough test for all players.
"After 18 ends of two-bowl triples, the result was: Men 126 to Women 88."
Of seven rinks of triples, the men won 6-1.
"There were also two rinks of men only playing, but their results were not included in the total score.
"All told 54 players battled the cold, gusty winds."
