Physiotherapy business seeks 'change of use'
A development application has been lodged for a "change of use" of a shop at 276 West St, Umina, to a "health services facility".
The application explains that "6S Physio has occupied the existing premises since about 2019, operating under the assumption that approval, whether by a Complying Development Certificate or development consent, was not required."
"This application is submitted to facilitate the continued lawful operation of the existing business and seeks Council's consideration and approval."
The application states that the current use "is of a scale and nature that compliments existing local centre operations and aligns with the established character of the locality".
"The business offers a wide range of advanced physiotherapy and wellness treatments.
"6S Physio also operates at Ettalong and Mingara.
"The business actively sponsors Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Brisbane Waters Physical Culture Club, Dancin Mates Dance School, Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Association, Southern Spirit Cricket Club and Belle Netball.
"6S Studio also offers volunteer time to the Dementia Cafe at Mingaletta and presents annually to kindergarten at Ettalong Public School."
The application states: "The proposed development is suitable for the site, is of a scale and nature compatible with nearby development and complies with Council's various prescriptive and performance based planning provisions."
The proposal is currently open for written submissions until June 30.
