Women's raffle raises money for food pantry
The Deepwater Older Women's Network branch has raised $3500 through its first Monster Christmas Raffle.
The funds were distributed to the food pantries at Mary Mac's Place, the Woy Woy Community Food Pantry at the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Community SOS Food Pantry at the Peninsula Community Centre, according to network secretary Ms Jennifer Brown.
"Funds will also be used to buy bed linen for Allawah House, a 14-room refuge in East Gosford which houses older women escaping domestic and family violence.
She said the branch had added two more organizations to its list of recipients.
"We now provide funds to Meals on Wheels at Woy Woy to provide petrol vouchers to their volunteers delivering meals throughout the Central Coast.
"The Ettalong 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre has received funds to help with their signage and mural which improves the street appeal of the centre as well as teaching new skills and learning plans for seniors on the Peninsula."
The raffle was drawn by Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch at her office in Woy Woy.
Pictured seated with her were Ms Brown, Ms Christine O'Rourke, Mr Jason Millers from Meals on Wheels and Ms Rickie Olsen. Standing are Ms Karen Smith and Ms Sybil Ker.
