Carpenter St residents advised of new footpath

Residents of Carpenter St, Umina, have been told a footpath will be constructed the full length of the street from Lone Pine Ave to Veron Rd.

In a circular dated December 17 and distributed in letterboxes just before Christmas, the Council advised work would start in late January.

Work actually started early last week.

"The works will take approximately 12 weeks to complete, depending on weather and other circumstances," the circular stated.

"The scope of works include footpath path construction, kerb ramp construction, bus stop reconstruction and island reconstruction works."

It is understood the path will be 1.5 metres wide, rather than the standard 1.2 metres, and that all overhanging vegetation will be cleared, although council staff may consider planting additional trees in the area to enhance greenery following the completion of the works..

"Works will take place between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with shoulder closures during work hours.

"Please take care to ensure the safety of road users and workers on site."
