Rugby president explains his support for overseas travel
Woy Woy Rugby Club president Phil Burgess has revealed why he strongly supports Woy Woy players travelling overseas and hosting players from overseas.
"Back in 1997, my club in the United Kingdom, Lowestoft and Yarmouth, sent two players across to New Zealand to play for a season: myself and Marc Thomas," he said.
"This experience opened my eyes to the opportunities which rugby can give you - even if you're an average player like me.
"It changed my life.
"It's one of the few sports where a player from an average level up can travel to most countries in the world and play rugby while being looked after.
"Many from Woy Woy have played overseas including Adam MacVean (Canada), David Gooley (Canada), Gavan Hewitt (UK) and more recently Max Edwards and Braydon Mako (both UK).
"If you are a Woy Woy player or a player from the Central Coast, and want to know how to travel playing rugby, I am always happy to chat."
