Group joins Clean4Shore at short notice

A small community group joined Clean4Shore at short notice on what was described as "a very hot morning on the water" on Sunday, January 5.

The group removee floating and foreshore rubbish from the site of the "washed up" yacht adjacent to the Brian McGowan bridge at Gosford.

The low tide allowed access to the rail line opposite the Gosford Sailing Club with one full bag of small litter collected, mostly of plastic bottles, soft plastics and bait bags.

Under the rail bridge, another full bag of beer and soft drink cans, bait and plastic bags, clothing and food wrappings was collected.

The yacht site had floating marine debris, metal boat parts and small plastics accumulated in from the recent strong winds.

A pile of old yachting products from this vessel were stacked on dry land and were removed by the team.

An old 'tinny' smashed about by the rocks was also lifted on board by the crew.

A total of 240 kilos was deposited at Woy Woy tip.
