Umina author will talk about Maltese crime thriller

Umina author Mr Sean Richardson will hold at author talk at Umina Library about his crime thriller novel The Maltese Web at 10am on Thursday, August 1.

Mr Richardson said the book "explores the depths of corruption and the power of redemption".

It aims to immerse readers in the rich culture and history of Malta, with its stunning architecture and unique way of life as the backdrop to the story.

The novel follows financial investigator Marica Debono as she races against time to stop Russian criminals from exploiting her home during the fallout of a global financial catastrophe.

Mr Richardson said his focus was to write stories for readers to enjoy, that reflects his deep interest in and affection for Malta, and his local coastal home.

"This focus combines 20 years of experience working in Australian banking, a deep affection for Malta and a curiosity about life in Malta."

He and his family have visited Malta several times and spent a family gap year living in the town of Swieqi in Malta.

He said he aims to tell intriguing stories through the banking industry's "behind the scenes" characters and situations that usually go unnoticed, until something goes awry with devastating consequences.
