School issues details of athletics carnival

Woy Woy South Public School has issued details of its athletics carnival to be held on Thursday, July 25, at Adcock Park, West Gosford.

Permission notes and a $10 payment for the event are due today, Monday, July 22.

Any child who does not have permission to attend will remain at school and engage in educational activities.

Students attending the Years 3-6 carnival have been asked to arrive at school at 8:45am for a departure at 9am.

Students who miss the bus will be required to stay at school or be driven to Adcock Park by a parent-carer.

Students attending the Years K-2 carnival should arrive at school at their usual time.

Spectators will be welcome at the carnival, but should remain behind the fence outside the velodrome.

All races this year will be run as timed finals, including the 100m sprint.

There will be a limited canteen at Adcock Park for children to purchase snacks.

It has been recommended that students pack their own lunch and plenty of water.

Many of the field events will be held at school after the carnival including all discus, shot put and high jump for most age groups.

The 800m and 1500m races will be held at Rogers Park on Friday, July 26, at 12pm for students wishing to compete.

Families will be welcome as spectators, if they wish.

There will be no canteen facilities.

Children who do not wish to compete will remain at school.

Ribbons will be handed out later in the term once the carnival is complete.
