Magic theme at Changeover Night

The Rotary Club of Brisbane Water has held a magic-themed Changeover Night to reflect the Rotary International theme for the year of The Magic of Rotary.

Outgoing joint presidents Ms Sue O'Neill and Mr Mitch Gordon handed over the reins to a trio of Ms Marion Cornish, Mr Peter Mote and Ms Jayne Mote as incoming presidents.

Two Paul Harris Fellowships were awarded on the night to club secretary Ms Di Bartok and to Mr Troy Dove.

The award acknowledges individuals who contribute, or have contributions made in their name, of $1000 to The Rotary Foundation.

The award coincided with recognition of Mr Dove and Mr Gordon in State Parliament by Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch.

"I have the pleasure to acknowledge Mitchell Gordon and Troy Dove for their selfless contributions to our community," Ms Tesch said.

"For years, the pair have teamed up to organise trivia nights and raised tens of thousands of dollars for various charities and not for profit organisations such as Coast Shelter, RSPCA Central Coast, Fairhaven and many others."

Ms Tesch commended the duo for being "remarkable role models" for younger generations.
