Teachers and students donate hair in fundraiser
Two teachers and two students from Ettalong Public School have raised more than $3000 between them by cutting their hair for the Kids with Cancer Foundation
"Here at Ettalong Public School we take pride in supporting the notion that one person can make a difference in this world," said principal Ms Lynn Balfour.
She said that so when a student suggested that the school hold an event to raise money for charity "we jumped at the chance".
Throughout March and April, the school ran the campaign which would see two students and two teachers donate their hair to Variety Australia to be made into wigs for people in need.
The event culminated on April 5 with a hair cutting assembly for the school community.
"Our teachers Mr Matt Boutland, Mr Joel Travers and one student all shaved their heads, while the other student cut off over 30cm of her hair."
The school has raised $3088 for the Kids with Cancer Foundation, with the fundraising page still accepting donations on the Everyday Hero website.
