Woy Woy loses hard-fought rugby union match

Woy Woy has lost to Avoca Beach in a hard-fought match in Round 2 of the 2019 Central Coast Rugby Union Competition held at Woy Woy Oval on April 13.

"In what proved quite an even battle throughout, it was Avoca Beach which was always just in front on the scoreboard," said Central Coast Rugby Union's publicity officer Mr Larry Thomson.

"Avoca Beach went to the halftime break leading by 17 points to 12 and both sides knew they had real chances of victory at that stage.

"However, it was Avoca Beach who maintained that lead and even increased it a little during the second stanza.

"Best player for Avoca Beach was halfback Julian Bacigalupo, who was everywhere in attack and defence, and who scored a great try.

"He was well supported by Mitch Jacob, and Jake McPhee, who crossed for two personal tries.

"Woy Woy was always in the match but was simply unable to bridge the gap.

"Best for the home side were Cameron Graham, Robert Kinley, and Jovesa Kunawave, who scored a very good try." Mr Thomson said.
