Walking beyond The Ramparts
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is holding a "discovery walk" on Saturday, September 6, entitled "Back of and Beyond the Ramparts"
Walkers will meet at 8.30am at the Woy Woy tip at the end of Nagari Rd and the walk through Brisbane Water National Park will finish at 3.30pm.
The NPWS brochure states: "Join us on this interesting and different nature walk within the park and behind Umina Heights.
"Take in spectacular views of the Central Coast region, ponder within a significant special place and explore the massive Hawkesbury River sandstone shelf areas abounding this fascinating location."
It will be "mostly on tracks although you should expect some bush scrub scrambling-climbing.
"We'll also be looking at bush-fire regeneration following summer fires in this area.
"Bring your own snacks, lunch, drinks, sturdy walk boots and weather protection."
The cost is $12 for adults, $7 per child. The difficulty is rated at medium and it is recommended for ages 12 and older.
Bookings may be made by telephoning 4320 4205.
