Range of unusual foods
A fine food delicatessen has opened for business in the Rocks Arcade, Ettalong.
Proprietors Linda Proper and Wendy Guthrie are attempting to introduce a wide range of unusual food lines to the community.
Linda and Wendy are both single mothers and have known each other since they were 11 years old.
Linda lives in Umina and noticed the vacant shop, which she thought, was "quaint and affordable".
Wendy lives in Avalon and commutes daily by ferry.
She is moving to the area for the beginning of the next school year so her child may go to school locally as well.
They are open for business seven days and also serve sandwiches, home made bakes, wraps, foccacias, soups and vegetarian food.
"We have weekly taste tests so that our customers can have fun exploring different taste combinations," said Linda.
"At this stage, weekdays are busier than weekends, but we expect that to change as summer approaches," she said.
"The public is so friendly and supportive, particularly in comparison with the Peninsula on the other side of the water," Wendy said.
"We also do catering and gift baskets."
