CWA branch starts next stage of hall renovation
The Umina Beach branch of the Country Women's Association is embarking on the final stage of its hall renovation with the installation of a new kitchen scheduled for early next year.
"Once the new kitchen is in place our members plan to host cooking lessons for both adults and children," said branch member Ms Margaret Key.
"Given the current cost-of-living crisis in Australia which has put a strain on household budgets, we believe that offering classes on preparing budget-friendly meals choosing seasonal fruits and vegetables and identifying affordable protein sources will be well-received by the Peninsula community."
She said lesson plans had been "generously provided" by Australia's first Masterchef Ms Julie Goodwin of Narara (pictured with branch members).
"The design of the kitchen will facilitate teaching the fundamentals of cooking."
Ms Key said it would benefit community members, who hired the hall for parties, weddings, and family celebrations, as well as CWA members.
"In the coming six to nine months the Umina Beach Branch will be actively fundraising to secure the necessary funds for this new kitchen," she said.
"We appreciate any support from our community."
Ms Key said the branch welcomed new members, and anyone interested may simply "drop by any Wednesday morning".
