Replace the deadly Rawson Rd level crossing

I am not the only Woy Woy resident distressed to hear of the tragic incident at the deadly Rawson Rd railway crossing on the night of Wednesday July 3.

I wish to convey my condolences to the affected family and friends.

And my heart goes out to the driver and conductor working on the train, plus the passengers on the train who were traumatised by the incident, and subsequently inconvenienced.

On top of that are the first responders: from the police, ambulance and fire service ... the list goes on.

Two facts are clear.

Installation of lights at the intersection would not have prevented this incident.

And, we need all three levels of government, local, state and federal, to work together to complete the replacement of the deadly Rawson Rd level crossing.

Lives are at stake.
