Parking fine despite absence of signs or yellow line
I read with interest a query in the last edition about a parking fine.
My experience is also querying the application of parking fines in the local area.
I received a parking fine in Ocean View Rd, Ettalong, about 50m or so down from the roundabout at Picnic Parade.
There are no signs or yellow lines indicating it is a no-parking zone.
I have checked multiple times, as have my neighbours and friends.
Each time I have done this, the section of road here is filled with other cars parked in the same spot I received the fine.
I submitted an appeal where it was stated that even though I said there was no yellow line (the reason for the fine), I was still required to pay the fine ($302)!
I took this information to the Local Member where it was indicated that nothing could be done, despite the Department of Revenue's own photos showing there is no yellow line.
Apart from the ludicrousness of this situation, I wondered how many other people are being issued a fine in the same spot.
