Stage 3 team participates in its first Maths Olympiad
Woy Woy Public School's Stage 3 Maths Olympiad team has participated in its first Maths Olympiad.
The Maths Olympiad is run by the non-profit Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiads organisation.
It is designed to stimulate and challenge students at primary school level.
"It teaches major problem-solving strategies and strengthens students' mathematical intuition prior to starting high school," said relieving principal Mr Dan Betts.
"The students have 30 minutes to answer five complex word problems and there are four tests throughout the year.
"Our team gave it an excellent go for their first time and are to be congratulated on their efforts.
"We will be working hard to improve their scores each round.
"The next test will occur on June 12."
