Netball representatives compete in Newcastle

The Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Association's representatives teams all competed at Newcastle on Sunday, May 19.

The Open team was the winner of the carnival in Division 1.

Representatives convenor Ms Michelle Stone said: "It was wonderful to see how the teams have progressed since the last carnival.

"Some very good netball was played and the girls were positive and enthusiastic in their court play and bonding individually as each team."

She said: "It was a tough day for the 17s, but the girls played for each other.

"It was the final workout of combinations prior to State and there were positives that will help achieve individual and team goals for State.

"The 14s had their own scoring system based on goals set and actions achieved on the court.

"It was wonderful to see them working hard towards achieving these extra points.

"The 13s put in a solid performance, demonstrating effort and teamwork.

"While they faced some tough competition, their resilience and positive attitudes were commendable.

"The team is developing their ability to work together, laying a strong foundation for future improvement.

"It was a day of steady progress and valuable experience for the team.

"The 12s had a fabulous day of fun and friendship and are really starting to gel as a team with lots of encouragement and positivity towards each other.

"They had two wins, one draw and lost four games to Division 1 teams.

"We were so proud of the way they played in the harder games, winning a second half of one of the games and displaying some skilful netball especially in the last game.

"They kept their heads high and made those teams earn their points.

"We had a chance to practice subbing in those games too which will prove helpful for State."
