Local private hospital promotes mental health services
A local private hospital is promoting its mental health services as an alternative to the NSW public system which is facing mass resignations of more than 200 psychiatrists.
"The Central Coast Clinic at Brisbane Waters Private Hospital provides access to world class mental health facilities," said chief executive Mr Stephen Johnston.
"With the challenges facing mental health services through NSW Health, we're offering residents another option at the all-new Clinic at Woy Woy, with modern facilities, private rooms, dedicated staff and experienced psychiatrists."
He said people currently privately insured with psychiatric services cover could take immediate advantage of the service.
He said people currently privately insured, but without psychiatric services, could upgrade and have the two-month waiting period waived.
People who were not currently privately insured would have a two-month waiting period if taking up private insurance.
Mr Johnston said a GP referral was required for all inpatient and day service admissions at the hospital.
The Royal Australian College of GPs has meanwhile urged the NSW Government to allow GPs to initiate and prescribe medications for people living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and to manage their care.
