Art installations wanted for arboretum art trail
The Pearl Beach Arboretum is seeking expressions of interest for art installations in its Environmental Art Trail, which will run from Saturday, March 15, to Sunday, March 27.
Expressions of interest close on February 10.
"The Pearl Beach Arboretum Environmental Art Trail aims to create inspiring temporary public art that promotes nature conservation, supports community identity and increases the cultural vibrancy," said arboretum secretary Ms Mary Knaggs.
"Creating the unexpected is a key objective.
"This program offers a unique opportunity to create a site-specific art installation responding to theme for 2025 - Harmony in Nature."
Prizes will total $8000.
First prize for an artist or group over 16 years of age is $3000.
Highly commended prize (over 16) is $1500.
People's Choice prize for any category is $1000.
The Young Person's prize for an artist or group 16 years and under is $500, plus $500 to their nominated school.
Highly commended prize (under 16) is $250, plus $250 to their nominated school.
The school prize for Years 4-6 is $500 awarded to the school.
The school prize for Years 7-10 is $500 awarded to the school.
Community group entries will only be eligible for the People's Choice Award.
The art trail will be open to the public free of charge during daylight hours.
There are expected to be 30 other artworks on display.
On the weekends, the Arboretum will host music, dance and workshops.
