Rotary club awards life membership

The Rotary Club of Umina Beach has awarded its first ever life membership.

The award was made to Mr Kevin Williams in recognition of more than 30 years of outstanding service to the community as a member of the club, said club publicity officer Mr Pat Lewis.

He was presented with the award at a special ceremony at his home in Empire Bay which was attended by his daughters Tracey and Melissa and his son Brad.

The presentation was made by club president Mr Bruce Croft, who was supported by past presidents Mr Tom O'Connor, Mr Wayne Dowdle and Mr Mike Curley.

"Kevin has been an active member of Rotary International and the club for almost 40 years," said Mr Lewis.

"He was club president in 1989-1990 and has been recognised by the awards of a Paul Harris Fellow and a Sapphire Pin.

"Kevin was club treasurer for 11 years, had been the attendance officer for many years, and served on the board for over 15 years.

"Kevin was always one of the first to volunteer for each local project of Umina Rotary."

Mr Lewis said Mr Williams was also actively involved in Probus and was the inaugural secretary of the Probus Club of Umina Everglades when it was formed by Umina Rotary in 2002.

"He was the second president of that Probus Club and served on its management committee for many years."
