Park Run celebrates its 100th run
The weekly Woy Woy Park Run held from Lions Park in Brickwharf Rd has celebrated its 100th run on February 20.
"We had 152 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 21 were first timers and 34 recorded new personal bests," said event directors Mr Scott Wedesweiler and Ms Karen Duncan.
Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch who joined the event congratulated the organisers.
"Started in 2018, Woy Woy parkrun has had 3229 participants who have covered a huge 66,115 kilometres."
On average, there have been 134 runners in each Saturday morning event and each runner has completed four events.
The average time for the five kilometre return run from Lions Park to Blackwall Point at Orange Grove is 34:03 minutes.
The event is run voluntarily and volunteers are always wanted.
Roles include run directors, first timers briefing, results processor, pre-event setup, event day course check, timekeeper, finish tokens, barcode scanning, marshall, tail walker, photographer and post-event close down.
Volunteers last weekend included Karen Duncan, Natalie Duncan, Rachel Spooner, Robynne Scott, Amber O'Donohue and Steve Russell.
