Deputy mayor acted like wounded rhino
I refer to the letter from Jenny Walder as published in Peninsula News on December 23.
I tend to agree that the deputy mayor behaved a bit like a wounded rhino on steroids.
But let's face it: the meeting had a pre-determined outcome and was only staged for entertainment purposes.
It was entertaining if you enjoy a good Christmas pantomime.
I should say it would have been pantomime if we were allowed to boo the baddies.
Anyway the meeting wasn't about approving a McDonalds DA it was about rezoning land that McDonalds own.
Believe it or not.
In my opinion, the interesting part of the meeting was the deputy mayor's response to a question from an owner of an adjacent property who asked why he was not advised of the proposed development.
The abrupt reply was that the council had no legal requirement to inform him personally, next question please.
In the business world, most organisations are striving to improve their image and customer service outcomes.
At Gosford Council, we have the deputy mayor declaring that the standard for customer service is the minimal legal requirement, or dare I say, they are striving for mediocrity.
Astounding.
The deputy mayor is upholding the stereotype for council workers by introducing the clerical equivalent of leaning on the shovel.
