Surprise visitor attends fashion parade
The Deepwater branch of the Older Women's Network held its Autumn-Winter Fashion Parade in the auditorium of the Ettalong Senior Citizens' Centre on Saturday, May 17.
"We welcomed 90 visitors and one surprise visitor, being the Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch who took time out from her own birthday celebrations to come down," said branch secretary Ms Jennifer Brown.
"She encouraged the crowd to have a great day and be generous to our raffle ticket sellers, Ms Rickie Olsen and Ms Karen Smith.
"Liesl stayed for the first set of the Madeline Stephenson Tap Dance Troupe and then she was off back to her birthday party."
Ms Brown said the models for the day were all members of the branch and the clothes were supplied by Sarongs Ladies Fashions of Ettalong.
"The clothes proved popular with the crowd for their elegance, colour and flattering cut.
"There were some fabulous raffle prizes.
"First prize was a red tigers eye and banded agate necklace with sterling silver clasps."
Other prizes included an artistic framed original signed tile, a quilt cover set, a bathroom pack, an oil burner and perfumed candle and a stationary set.
"Each attendee was given a lucky door prize ticket."
They were also given a voucher for clothes purchases, ensuring 10 per cent of their purchases would be donated back to the branch.
"By the end of May, we will have raised over $2200 which will be distributed to our three local food pantries: Mary Mac's Place, Woy Woy Community Food Pantry and Community SOS."
Ms Brown said the branch would also be supporting Hope and Meals - Dinner at 6, and Capes4Kids.
