Anti-social driving reduced with police presence
A high visibility police presence in Patonga Dr near Pearl Beach appears to have deterred anti-social driving activity in the area.
Highway Patrol and general duties police attended the area on 39 separate occasions between December 20 and January 31, Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch has said in a letter to the Pearl Beach Progress Association.
"During these taskings, action was taken against a driver for a PCA offence and another driver for a drug driving offence."
Ms Tesch said: "Late last year I convened a meeting with Pearl Beach residents, NSW Police and myself to discuss community concerns regarding hooning in and around Pearl Beach.
"I am advised by Superintendent Darryl Jobson, Commander of the Brisbane Water Police District, that following this meeting both Highway Patrol resources and general duties resources from the Brisbane Water Police District were tasked to target anti-social driving activity in the local area.
"Between December 20 and March 12, I am advised that there have been minimal driving complaints received in this area and it appears that the high visible policing presence has deterred anti-social driving activity in this area."
