Little Theatre presents The Girl on the Train
Woy Woy Little Theatre will present The Girl on the Train for a season of 10 performances over three weekends, starting on Friday, August 2.
The play is based on the novel by Paula Hawkins and the DreamWorks film of the same name, adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel.
"It is a tale of betrayal and coercive control with an intriguing mystery at the heart, a mystery that is maintained right until the end," said box office manager Mr Graham Vale.
"The play hurtles straight into action with Rachel waking up in her dingy kitchen surrounded by empty bottles of alcohol, still in her drab clothes from the previous day.
"She has a gash on her head but is unable to recall how it happened, like many recent events in her tangled life.
"After her childless marriage collapses amid her apparent alcoholism, Rachel repeatedly rides the train past her old house, spying on her ex-husband Tom and his new wife Anna and baby Evie, and on a neighbouring couple who seem to have the perfect life.
"Then the perfect woman, Megan, disappears.
"Her husband, her therapist and even Rachel are suspects.
"What follows is an unravelling of characters and their relationships, bringing this physiological thriller to its surprising conclusion."
"There are plenty of good seats at this stage, but they are selling faster than usual," said Mr Vale.
The Girl on the Train is directed by Christine Vale, with a cast of Teanau Murphy, Martin Pemberton, Greg Buist, Lucia Mandile, Kassie Brown, Terry Matthews and Scott Larimore.
