Disability service tackles social isolation
A local disability service is seeking volunteers to be "buddies" with adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities or autism.
Buddies are paired according to mutual interests, such as music tastes, sport and hobbies - and other factors such as location and age, and go out together once a month for a year.
"We're currently looking for a number of volunteers based in Woy Woy and the Peninsula," said Mr Matthew Collins, co-ordinator of Gig Buddies Central Coast in Umina.
"Gig Buddies Central Coast is an organisation that tackles social isolation.
"It is all about expanding social circles and trying new experiences.
"The volunteer benefits just as much as the person with a disability," he said.
More information is available online at gigbuddiescentralcoast.org, or call Mr Collins on 0402 708 814.
