Angela is paired with guide dog Jolie
The Woy Woy Country Women's Association member whose guide dog retired just two months ago has been assigned a new guide dog.
Ms Angela Allen, who is also a long-standing volunteer with Guide Dogs Central Coast support group, has been paired with "Jolie", a recently-graduated guide dog.
"Angela has played such a significant role as an active member of the Central Coast Support Group, which has made vital fundraising contributions to our organisation over the last 40 years," said support group publicity officer Ms Lynne Lillico.
"Angela moved to Australia from Ireland with her late husband Norman, and Irish guide dog Hamish in November 2008, to be with their daughter and her family.
"Guide Dogs New South Wales ACT took her under their wings and provided her with the orientation needed to continue to live an independent life on the Central Coast.
"She became involved with fundraising with the Central Coast support group in 2010, undertaking numerous speaking presentations at the local schools, Probus and other community senior groups, as well joining the local Gosford Sing Australia choir group and swimming at the local pool, making lots of new friends.
"Angela was given her first Australian guide dog Piper in 2018, a beautiful golden Labrador.
"She continued to be involved with community activities and joined the local CWA Woy Woy branch, where she and Piper were made welcome and became full members."
Close to nine years old, Piper retired to live with Angela as a pet.
"We are so pleased for Angela and wish her many happy years with Jolie and Piper," said Ms Lillico.
