Inconsiderate Council shuts down busy footpath
There are numbers of residents with walkers and wheelchairs around Woy Woy, including Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch.
Therefore, when the council decides to rip up a busy section of footpath on the main street, you would think it would program the work at night to reduce impact on path users or at least provide alternative pedestrian and disabled access with appropriate protection.
Neither occurred at the corner of Blackwall Rd and Oval Ave when the corner was shut down for three days to concrete a one metre square patch of footpath.
Barriers forced pedestrians onto the roadway into traffic and no access was provided for wheelchairs or walkers.
On such a busy intersection, it was lucky no incidents occurred, as happened in Ettalong last July when a 78-year-old woman sustained serious injuries when struck by a car having been forced onto Ocean View Rd by construction work.
Maybe if we had a Peninsula Council, it would be more cognisant of our community and how to better serve us, and it would draft its tenders and oversee them accordingly.
