Two win awards of appreciation

A teacher and the uniform shop manager at Umina Beach Public School have won Regional North Public Education Awards of Appreciation.

"Ms Sarah Honeyman and Ms Janette Taylor were selected as recipients of these special awards and will be presented with their certificates at a special regional event that will coincide with Education Week, which is held in Term 3," said school principal Ms Karen Wardlaw.

"Sarah receives her award for being a dedicated, exceptional teacher who creates a positive, engaging learning environment in which all her students develop, learn and thrive.

"Sarah received numerous nominations from grateful parents who 'couldn't ask for a better teacher' for their children," Ms Wardlaw said.

"Janette also received multiple nominations from across our school community.

"She receives her award for being a tireless supporter of Umina Beach Public School in her role as P/C treasurer and uniform shop manager:

"Janette is dedicated, generous and highly valued by staff, students and community alike.

"The school is richer for her exceptional volunteer service and we are pleased to see her dedication acknowledged with this award."

Ms Wardlaw said: "We are so grateful to have such a positive, supportive and committed school community and it was lovely to see so many parents complete nominations for staff and parents across our school."
