Performers' contest at Everglades

A songwriters and performers contest is being run every Friday evening until December 23, from 7pm-10:30pm at Everglades Country Club, Woy Woy.

The contest began on Friday, October 21, and includes six heats and three semi finals with final to be held on Friday, December 23.

The free contest is open to all songwriters and performers.

Contestants each have 20 minutes to perform up to four songs on the auditorium stage.

Winners are selected by a combination of popular vote and judges' choice.

Organiser Mr Russell Neal from SongsOnStage runs about 50 songwriters and performers concert and contest nights every month in and around Sydney.

Australian Songwriters Conference founder and coordinator Ms Lisa Butler also agreed to lend her support and assistance to the contest.

"Lisa has done fantastic work organising Annual Songwriting Conferences at Ettalong, attracting international presenters and mentors," said Mr Neal.

"Her efforts supporting the Central Coast song writing community have been awe inspiring," he said.

Prizes for the contest include $500 cash from Everglades Country Club, a photo shoot with Image Focus Australia, a gift voucher from Macron Music, four vocal coaching sessions with Doreen Van Bree, a song-career consultation with Lisa Butler Music Consulting, recording studio time and membership with the Songwriting Society of Australia.
