Woy Woy judo club closes
Woy Woy Judo Club has announced its "immediate closure".
It attributed the closure "to a number of factors including the cost of living, extreme overheads and limited coach availability".
In its public announcement, the club paid tribute to its founder Mr Danny Simmons Snr.
"When our club first opened in 1982 by Danny Simmons Snr, his passion and drive to give back to the community was unfathomable.
"He created a club that was there for everyone, completely inclusive, full of love, happiness, fun and joy.
"Our judo club has been a pillar of strength in our community, a legacy that is immeasurable, and to say we are thankful to every single family that has ever come through our doors, is an understatement.
"Though we may be finishing, our memories are something that cannot be changed, and we will be forever grateful that Danny took a chance and created something so special, his legacy, our legacy.
"Our biggest thanks go to every coach, student, sister club and judo member for supporting us for all these years.
"We also wish to thank Lindy Simmons, our owner, director and rock of the whole club.
"Without her dedication and love of the community, our club would not have existed."
