Umina GP retires after 47 years

Dr Randall Harkness has retired from medicine after 47 years as a general practitioner.

Federal Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid paid a visit to Dr Harkness on his last day at Providence Medical in Umina.

Dr Reid, a local emergency department doctor, presented Dr Harkness with a certificate commending his service to medicine on the Central Coast.

Dr Reid said: "Dr Harkness is an outstanding medical professional, who has dedicated 47 amazing years to medicine in New South Wales and on the Central Coast.

"Dr Harkness will be missed dearly by the Central Coast community, especially patients on the Peninsula.

"I wish Dr Harkness a very happy retirement and all the very best with this next chapter in his life."
