Marine Rescue radio operations resume without incident

Volunteers at the Marine Rescue Central Coast at the Point Clare base dismantled their radio equipment on Monday, August 5.

It was then relocated to temporary premises at the Peninsula Community Centre in Woy Woy.

Infrastructure officer Mr Peter Alderton said the move would allow the proposed demolition of the building and a new $3-million complex to be built.

"There's been a lot of organising," he said.

"We've had to do a lot of testing to make sure it all works correctly.

"Some people from head office came up to sort out some of the communication issues between the base and the temporary rooms at the Peninsula Community Centre."

The boat crews will still be housed in a demountable site at Point Clare and will be in immediate computer communication when the need arises.

During the move, radio operations for the Coast were covered by Marine Rescue headquarters in Sydney.

Radio operations from the Central Coast resumed without incident on the Tuesday morning.

The new building is expected to be completed in the middle of next year.
