Overseas staff to start in aged care in July

A Woy Woy aged care home expects the first of new staff from overseas to start in late July.

"We have been progressing for several months with a program to facilitate some overseas fully trained staff to join our team," said Blue Wave Living chief executive Mr Matt Downie.

"This is also a major challenge within our industry.

"There is simply not enough trained staff out there to fill all required roles.

"Part of the recent federal budget announcements included an announcement on a specific industry workforce agreement to help facilitate and speed up this process, which was very welcome news.

"We look forward to welcoming them to our team."
